Robert Bruce – Candidate for Wellington Central

Hi all, my name is Robert Bruce, or Raby or Plucka. I am originally from Northland and am standing in Wellington Central to promote the values of the Outdoor Party in hope we can pass the 5% threshold.

I really believe in the power of nature to heal and create healthy human beings, having been through various crises myself and working back toward health and happiness using holistic principles incorporating mental emotional and spiritual understanding of life.

I feel society has drifted away from our roots and connectedness to the natural world has faded somewhat. Not to worry!

I think Wellinton needs to create innovative design solutions to create suburban communities where people can gather and celebrate the natural ebbs and flows of life. I feel seasonal festivals celebrating food and music and cycles of life should be promoted. I especially feel musical and theatrical aspects of life need to be more at the forefront of Wellington life to provide outlets for young and old alike to air the issues of our political and moral landscape, especially as it is the seat of Government. Humans need connectedness and cities can often be isolating places.

I believe instead of costly infrastructure like sewage pipes, that houses need to be designed to collect rainwater, process sewage, grow food and generate power onsite where feasible using the latest eco designs. I will promote funding in this direction.

I believe incorporating the wider community in education helps us all, so skills being learned at schools can be utilised by students to connect with elderly and adults to give young people a chance to integrate into working life and help build the fabric of community.

I also believe water should be abundant and will promote a plastic bottle free city and introduce free public drinking water into the inner city that is chemical free. I powerfully feel Wellington needs a world class trauma and health centre where people who are homeless and hopeless or struggling with health and addiction can come and spend quality time to work through their problems with trained therapists, which could become an employment hub for Wellingtonians. Preventative health is best and reduces the burden on the country further down the track. LIFE LIFE LIFE –

Everybody has vast potential and a reason to be here on earth and we need to look after each other to get people back on their feet. Simple actions can create big differences and ripple through the collective.

Big Corporate Government has meant the people’s participation in democratic life is stunted and we need a better educated population so the apathy of the current age is reversed.

Lastly I believe animals are our friends and I can’t stand violence and cruelty towards animals and personally promote the highest welfare standards. That is no caged chickens or pigs in New Zealand and no cruel poisons like 1080.
