Press Release From Outdoors & Freedom Party. 20/02/22
From Parliament front Line.
The NZ Outdoors and Freedom Party is stunned that all 120 of elected MPs have made a pact to refuse to meet the Freedom protesters at Parliament.
Instead of stepping up to promote democracy, the physical abuse by Trevor Mallard has been followed by verbal abuse and bullying by Deputy Leader Michael Wood.
“The response of our elected representatives has become an international embarrassment for our once proud country, and shows a shocking disregard for democracy and their role as our elected representatives”, says Outdoors and Freedom co leader Sue Grey, “The speaker and deputy speakers’ abusive conduct and words should lead to their instant dismissal as they clearly are unfit to perform their roles”.
Everyday New Zealanders from every corner of the country are occupying parliament to stand up to draconian Government legislation. Deputy Leader Michael Wood’s remark that beneath the protest movement “is a river of filth” is an outright lie.
Party co-Leader Alan Simmons who travelled down with the convoy said “that statement was so disrespectful of the people here and the tens of thousands who stood for hours, lining the towns and farm roads supporting the 2022 Convoy. For politicians to constantly make disparaging and untrue statements shows they are not fit for purpose”. Alan remarked with a wry grin “the headwaters of his “river of filth” is the beehive”.
NZ Outdoors & Freedom Party Co-Leader Sue Grey says, “We have tried many avenues to meet with our representatives but no one wants to engage. The people have lost confidence in the current batch of representation. The people have had enough of career politicians who try to suppress the people. We need competent and courageous leaders with a track record. It’s becoming increasingly clear that the current electoral system needs far more checks and balances to make it fit for purpose”.
This occupation has highlighted the harm caused by the Covid response. People want their freedom back. They have had enough of government control. “This occupation of Parliament is not going away soon,” says Alan Simmons, “and is growing by the day as people pour into Wellington.”
The NZ Outdoors and Freedom Party continues to actively promote alternatives to New Zealand’s extreme COVID response. Two years of Govt “emergency response” has caused considerably more harm than COVID itself. The government has serially closed down our country, removed freedoms, crippled small businesses and divided families, fired tens of thousands who have had to decide between their body sovereignty and their income and left kiwis isolated and abandoned overseas. It has paid premiums for novel drugs and borrowed heavily, creating a substantial debt to the private banking sector. After two years of tolerance, New Zealanders have had enough.
The NZ Outdoors and Freedom Party supports immediate removal of all mandates, a more transparent approach to politics, strong and meaningful constitutional protections and an inquiry into the NZ Covid-19 Response.
