Politically motivated attack on alternative media

The Outdoors & Freedom Party is opposed to the politically motivated attack on journalist Hannah Spierer and presenter Kelvyn Alp from Counterspin Media. All New Zealanders should be supporting Spierer and Alp right now, because if one sector of the New Zealand society is shut down and excluded from communicating, then any sector can be shut down.  Without free and open discussion and debate and sharing of information we might as well go and live in a traditionally totalitarian nation.

This clearly politically motivated harassment of Spierer and Alp begs the question, which Government office did the orders come from?  Outdoors & Freedom Party spokesperson Tracy Livingston, says “I doubt very much the decision came from the police themselves. Even though the police are meant to be apolitical it does appear that they are taking orders from another government department. An OIA request would reveal whom is telling whom to shut down alternative news sources.”  

Livingston adds “These arrests set a dangerous tone, right in the middle of a local body election, when those opposed to government legislation are putting their names forward for election to councils, platforms such as Counterspin are vital for the ‘underdog’ to be able to speak directly to the voting audience.  Main stream media has been attacking anyone running for council who is associated with organisations such Outdoors & Freedom Party, Voices for Freedom, NZDSOS, The Health Forum and many others which means our organisations and our audience desperately need media platforms such as Counterspin. Outdoors & Freedom Party knows what it is like to be shut out of the media so we know platforms like Counterspin are vital in sharing information such as historical abuse, sex trafficking and other news that would cause an uproar if aired on the 6 o’clock news.  Counterspin Media shares information that the mainstream refuses to even acknowledge exists.” 

The Outdoors & Freedom Party wants to know “Why is it so dangerous for Spierer and Alp to share the information that they do? Who doesn’t want that information available to the general public?” These are the questions that will reveal a lot about the government and the “bought and paid for” local media and NZ based but foreign owned media.

The Outdoors & Freedom Party is concerned that our courts are no longer ‘independent and impartial’ as evidenced by High Court rulings regarding Covid and vaccination, which makes them in contempt of their own laws.  It’s absolutely vital that Spierer and Alp get the fair and honest hearing all people deserve. One can only assume that proof will have to be used as court evidence which means people will legitimately have to watch the video of the photographic  breakdown of the attack, which appears to be the opposite of what the government had been trying to achieve.  Makes you wonder why they are doing it.

Without freedom of speech literally nothing else matters, as communication of honest information, differing viewpoints and opinions is crucial in this era of government setting themselves up as the ‘single source of truth’.  If no one but government, government funded and foreign owned media is allowed to share information we are at the mercy of the information that they choose to share or censor.  This is starting to feel like the time of the Spanish Inquisition and witch hunts when no one was safe from Church’s ‘single source of truth’ and authority was held and enforced by power-hungry controlling psychopaths.

The government is obviously concerned about competing and opposing information to their narrative being shared, and truths and corruption being exposed.  They need to understand that the dirtier they fight and the more controlling they become, the more people recognise that they are being manipulated and controlled.
