On friday 15th November the President and co leader of the NZ Outdoors Party, Alan Simmons left home at 2.30am to travel to Wellington to present the Outdoors Party submission to the Finance and expenditure committee. He made the effort at great cost in time and money yet the Parliamentarians who are paid a public salary could not be bothered turning up.
Of the whole 13 member committee only three were present showing the contempt they have for submitters over the proposed gun legislation. If people make the effort surely the politicians can, after all they are being paid to” said Alan Simmons Leader of the party. “Its a disgrace they treat the voters with such arrogance. ”
The
Outdoors Party told the “three” select committee members present that
the bill was not fit for purpose and with further amendments proposed
was nothing but Tyranny by the state. Alan Simmons and board member
Wilf Bearman-Riddell served notice on the committee that they would
seek to repeal the legislation should they get elected in the 2020
election. They also told the committee that the dreadful violence that
led to this bill was caused by the total incompetence of the police.
“To have the former police union secretary sitting on the committee and
asking obviously loaded questions beggars disbelief” said Alan Simmons.
“I guess they didn’t like being
called tyrants” said Alan “as they then removed the video recording of
the morning session from the website. I believe that to be a true
example of tyranny by this labour Government suppressing another
political parties submissions has to be illegal and contrary to the UN
bill of rights. ”
On the same
morning session controversial Gun Shop owner David Tipple warned of
vigilantism and was scathing about the police incompetence as was
another supplier of ammunition who showed a written permit issued by
the police to procure 2300 rounds of ammunition for the mass shooter.
“The
whole process is a sham and people need to wake up to what is going on
here as it affects all peoples rights to free speech in all aspects of
this government.” Alan said.
